Innocence is Sacred - Contemporary Portraiture Final

Innocence is sacred, sweet, and tragic. The memories fade and slowly dissipate over time along with the every changing mind and body. Such as a delicate rose, the young female body blossoms and glows. Her innocence and beauty become fruitful and regal as she grows. My series was inspired by the character of “Ophelia” in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. With the use of light, water, and roses I depict a beautiful young woman submerged in sorrow, anguish, and despair with her memories and water engulfing her body and soul. Intimate moments and fleeting emotions are captured through multiple perspectives and angles. We don’t know of her past, present, or future - but we engage with her for a moment that is fragile and reflective. It is within this moment, space, and time that her innocence stays sacred, sweet, and deeply tragic.
